Assess

The Diagnostic

A team of experts studies how you live and work, and shows you what you cannot see on your own.

Three experts examine your life from three directions, each without seeing the others’ work. Then they meet, test their reads against one another and agree on what matters most. You receive one document that says plainly what is holding you back, what is in your favor, and what to do about it, in order.

Your advisory begins here. The Immersive and the year that follows are built on what the Diagnostic finds.

The process

From your first answers to the readout.

Eight steps, with your advisor beside you at each one. Three of them are the expert audits, and one happens without you in the room.

  1. 01

    The Profile

Ten questions, about three minutes. It points to which of Capacity, Orientation and Activation most likely sets the pace for you. That becomes the starting hypothesis the Diagnostic sets out to test.

  2. 02

    The first conversation

A private session with your advisor across five areas of your life. Health, wealth, work, relationships and family, and legacy and impact. Where you are, where you want to be, and what the distance between them costs you.

  3. 03

    Onboarding

Your advisor schedules the three audits and sends a short foundation questionnaire, a widely used measure of temperament, to complete before the first one. Each expert sees only the parts relevant to their field.

  4. 04

    The Capacity audit

What you have to work with. A health professional reads your sleep, nutrition, movement, stress and recovery, from a set of published questionnaires and a conversation.

  5. 05

    The Orientation audit

Where you are pointed, and why. A philosophical or spiritual practitioner reads your identity, your values, your beliefs about how the world works, and what gives your life meaning.

  6. 06

    The Activation audit

Whether and how you move. An expert in felt emotion and enacted behavior reads the distance between what you intend and what you do.

  7. 07

    The expert roundtable

The three experts meet. No one reads another’s audit before writing their own, so each read is independent. They test their findings against one another and agree on your primary constraint before they see what your Profile said. Where one cannot agree, their dissent is recorded in their own words.

  8. 08

    The readout

Your advisor walks you through the finished report, page by page, in a live session. You leave knowing what was found, how it was found, and where to begin.

What to expect

Thorough, discreet, and written to be acted on.

  • Your time

Two conversations with your advisor, three audit calls, one with each expert, and a handful of questionnaires, none longer than about twenty minutes.

  • Who you meet

Your advisor throughout, and three experts, each senior in their own field, drawn from the Vanguard, Becoming’s faculty of experts.

  • Your privacy

Your name appears nowhere in the report. It is prepared for a member number, written to you in the second person, and free of the names of family, employers and companies. A stranger who found it could not tell who it was for.

  • Plain findings

Findings are stated directly, without hedging. The Diagnostic assigns no clinical labels. Anything that calls for clinical care is referred, never written up.

  • Nothing invented

Every finding traces to something you answered, said or showed. Where the evidence is thin, the report leaves a blank rather than a guess.

  • Once a year

Membership includes one Diagnostic a year. Your first opens the membership, and each one after that is run as the year closes, so you can see what has changed and decide what the next year is for.

  • Nothing sold

Every recommendation stands on its own. Nothing in the report points you to a Becoming program, and each step could be taken without us.

What you receive

The Integrative Diagnostic, and the conversations around it.

  1. 01

    An executive summary

Your primary constraint, confirmed or revised against your Profile, the frame the panel puts around it, and the directive that follows. The whole report in its first pages.

  2. 02

    A gap analysis

Health, wealth, work, relationships and family, and legacy and impact. Where you are against where you want to be, in your own words where you gave them.

  3. 03

    Three expert audits

Each in three parts. Your questionnaire results against the typical range, and against people of your age and sex where the research allows. What the expert observed across every area of their field. What they concluded.

  4. 04

    The panel’s single read

Your primary constraint, what came to light where the three fields meet, and any dissent in the dissenting expert’s own words.

  5. 05

    Recommendations in three horizons

Now, what you can do yourself in the coming months. Next, the deeper change. Soon, what keeps it in place. Each with the reasoning behind it, the research where the expert cites it, and where to read further.

  6. 06

    Your diagnostic team

The name and background of each expert who examined you, and of your advisor.

  7. 07

    The appendices

Every questionnaire explained, your full Profile with what each answer points to, further reading, and a glossary.

  8. 08

    The readout

A live session with your advisor to walk through every page and settle where to start.

What you can do with it

  • Act on it yourself

The Now recommendations are written to be carried out without us, starting this month.

  • Know where to start

The recommendations come in order, so the first change is the one that gives the most back.

  • Shape the Immersive

Your five days are designed around what the Diagnostic found, so they work on your constraint, not a general curriculum.

  • Measure against it

It is the baseline your advisor measures you against every ninety days.

  • Keep it

The full report is yours to keep.
